Brilliant new ground for the Gwynedd Spaniel Club Open ESS trial.
The day was overcast when we met at the Soughton Shoot near Mold, and were met by our host Andrew Hughes, who was also the Steward of the Beat.
We all took a short walk to the far end of a long wood, which was on a slight incline.
The first 3 dog on each line were taken into the wood leaving the remaining dogs and spectators walking up the outside the wood along with one of our guns.
It was not long before the first shots of the day could be heard the chatter of pheasants as they took off and handlers whistles.
Dogs came out and went in the woods, reports were what fantastic ground it was.
Several birds were dealt with by the walking gun and dogs brought out of the wood for retrieves on the field.
The game supply was unbelievable making it a day to remember.
Our judges Ralph Edwards and Dave Bishop called for John Edwards, Kenny Hiley and Steve Kelsall for a run off.
Run off completed, trial declared over we all returned to the farm for the awards:
